The Pompidou Centre is more than just a museum. Housed in a building evocative of a gigantic ocean liner, it’s a combination of spaces in full evolution. Take a ride up its iconic exterior escalators and discover an extraordinary world dedicated to contemporary art in its broadest sense. And don’t forget to head to the roof, where the Georges restaurant is located...
A surprising summer at the Pompidou Centre
In addition to its cinema, libraries and permanent exhibitions devoted to the great names of art from the recent past until today, the Pompidou Centre regularly offers a wide variety of temporary exhibitions, and two this summer are of particular note. The first, from May 30th to August 27th, looks at the mid-20th century Union of Modern Artists and this movement’s unprecedented approach to the creative use of industrial materials. The second focusses on the work of the Japanese soundscape and installation artist Ryoji Ikeda. It runs from June 15th to August 27th.
A meal on the rooftop
In between exploring the eclectic exhibitions of the Pompidou Centre, you can discover the dishes created by the chef of the Georges restaurant. Located atop the building and offering an exceptional view of the roofs of Notre-Dame Cathedral and the heart of Paris, this elegantly decorated restaurant offers a cuisine that merges multiple influences. As beautiful to look at as it is delicious to taste, this is a cuisine that urges you to take your time. Your Hotel Opera Vivaldi team will be happy to reserve a table for you and show you how to get there.
A few minutes by public transport from your Hotel Opera Vivaldi, the Pompidou Centre invites you to enjoy an experience that is eclectic, original and full of surprises. And to ensure that all your senses are satisfied, don’t forget to conclude your visit with a lunch or dinner on the Georges rooftop!
